Tamera Taylor
|
Originally a transfer student from Chaffey College, Tamera Taylor is now a Senior at UCR majoring in Plant Biology with a specialty in plant breeding, genetics, and biotechnology. During this program, she has been using skills in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and biotechnology to uncover how insect effector proteins affect plant immunity.

Stephanie Martinez
|
Stephanie Martinez is a third-year student at the University of California, Riverside, majoring in Biology. Currently, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in the biological sciences. Throughout the U-SPARC fellowship, she has been using genetic approaches to study which amino acid sequences in the KAI2 gene have allowed the KAI2 receptor to have greater karrikin responses in various plants.

Alexis Garrison
|
Alexis Garrison is an undergraduate transfer student who transferred to the University of California, Riverside, from the local community college of Moreno Valley and is pursuing a degree in Environmental Sciences. She is studying in Dr. Roya Bahreini’s atmospheric science laboratory and her research involves the study of the composition and deposition of airborne particulate matter surrounding the Salton Sea as the saline lake has been shrinking in recent years. The overall goal of the project is to estimate how much playa emissions contribute to the atmospheric dust in the Salton Sea basin and to investigate whether toxic elements are associated with playa emissions.

Raquel Dieffenbacher
|
Raquel Dieffenbacher is a first-generation college student who is pursuing a neuroscience bachelor degree and minoring in biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside. She plans to continue her education in biochemistry after she graduates, in hope of widening her career outlook. She hopes to find a job that can improve the quality of living for all living beings.
